What was the first car you drove by yourself with a manual transmission?
How about your first automatic by yourself?

The very first car I "drove" myself (Went around our block in Youngstown, Ohio) was my dad's '62 Oldsmobile wagon. I was twelve years old, thought I was the King of the Road!

My first crack at a manual shift by myself belonged to a guy I worked for who had a '68 Cutlass with a 350 and a four-speed. He took me to a mall parking lot and had me use the clutch with no throttle to get the car rolling. He had me shifting through the gears in less than ten minutes then told me to run an errand for him in town and gave me the keys. I was nervous as all get out and probably stalled that thing a couple dozen times. But, by the time I got back, I was hooked.
