It also required special electrical connectors and a raised floor. No such a thing as "high-level programming". Assembler language was used. Kiddies today would be overwhelmed.

First computer I ever ran was an IBM 1401 mainframe system. The CPU had, get ready, 4K. (EOM) by Andy Sixsmith #47343.2
I ran the 16K version with 4 tape drives, 2540 card reader/punch and a 1403 printer. Ours also had by John Bono #47343.2.1
Sounds very familiar, John. I remember a switch on our tape drives that said "High Density/Low Densi by Andy Sixsmith #47343.2.1.1
