Those that could afford living in a 60 story apartment building wouldn't be caught dead on.........
Coney Island. I suspect there were very few 60 story apartment buildings back then. Most folks lived in 5 or 6 story apartment houses or in 2 or 3 family homes in the outer boroughs. Why CI was so popular, it was readily accessible to most City dwellers because of the NYC Subway System. Not everyone had cars. CI was available for the price of a 15 cents subway token. Ask me how I know.
