Actually, Don, there was such a dealership. There was a Porsche dealership
near Baltimore, Maryland, that took such an approach. I was in college with a guy who sold Porsches at the local dealership, and he told me that they would sell you a new 912 without reservation, but if you were trying to buy a 911, they would send a guy out on a test drive with you to see if you could handle it. If not, they declined to sell it to you. This was in 1967-68. I doubt that there are any dealerships today with similar reservations. Can you afford a new Corvette? If so, they'll be happy to sell you one. If you kill yourself, well, that's your problem.
