It is 1965 and it's a little windy as the pit dust rakes over the coffee. The mountains tower in the background as engines roar to life and bright colored uniforms spring in to action. Banners waving above read "Los Angeles Times Grand Prix". The crowd was beside itself, fingers pointing at an array of the world's finest drivers from both sides of the pond. Yes, this was the most impressive line up of drivers at one time, for one race, in America's history. Who cares if the coffee was running cold; the hearts were pumping hot and at the races, that's what it's all about.

Drivers like Jim Clark, Graham Hill, Bruce McLaren, Chris Amon, Ken Miles, and David Hobbs were flying the international colors. Flying the big, beautiful red, white and blue, were Dan Gurney, AJ Foyt, Augie Pabst, Peter and Doug Revson, Jim Hall, Gerry Grant, Hap Sharp, Parnelli Jones, Bob Bondurant, Skip Hudson, Chuck Parson, Ronnie Bickman, George Follmer, Walt Hanson and more. But wait, this was going to be Mario Andretti's first professional road race. Unfortunately, like A.J. Foyt's Lotus 40, Mario's Lola T70, did not qualify nor did Jackie Stewart's Lola! WOULDN'T YOU WANT TO BE THERE RIGHT NOW!AND WHO DO YOU THINK WON? Can we say C-h-a-p-a-r-r-a-l--2, and a guy by the name of Hap Sharp. Yes, it was close, Bob Bondurant was leading when he crashed his Lola 70 in lap #38. But it's who gets over the line first that counts. That is called a winner.

AUTOart's Chaparral 2 #66 is a winner too! CAN YOU SAY DETAIL! CAN YOU SAY CLASSY! CAN YOU SAY "DIDN'T MISS ANYTHING!" CAN YOU SAY AFFORDABLE! CAN YOU SAY I WANT THAT CAR NOW! The wait is almost over, AA comes through again with a very good model that is sure to please even the most picky collector, and send to heaven the cheapest penny pincher. HOW ABOUT THIS! The brake air cooling flex hoses turn with the wheels. The front and rear cover body panels come off so you can varoooooooom eveything. TAKE A DAY OFF AND ENJOY THIS CAR! AND THE PANELS ARE HEAVY. It is all good, this Chaparral is worth whatever they ask. But here is a secret, they don't ask very much for it. DON'T YOU JUST LOVE IT WHEN SOMEONE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THEIR PRODUCT IS WORTH? Don't feel guilty, just get the car...I think you'll like it. They'll get over it.
