Background Information Provided by Norev

The GT by CitroŽn is an ultra exotic sports car that debuted as a concept car on October 2 at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The car is a collaboration between the French automaker CitroŽn and the Japanese racing simulation developer Polyphony Digital. An extremely limited edition, only 6 cars are to be built.

Joint venture The GT by CitroŽn concept car was specially created, designed and produced for the upcoming video game Gran Turismo 5 and was included through download in its latest version Gran Turismo 5: Prologue (sold 3.6 million copies). Its designer came up with the project and sold it to both Polyphony Digital and CitroŽn.

CitroŽn The car's exterior design was made by Takumi Yamamoto, a Japanese designer from Jean-Pierre Plouť's Style CitroŽn design team. Takumi Yamamoto was a childhood friend of Kazunori Yamauchi, director of Polyphony Digital and creator of the popular Gran Turismo franchise, also known as "GT". According to a Yamauchi interview at the Paris Motor Show 2008, he and Yamamoto started collaborating on this project back in 2003. A press release published on the North American Gran Turismo official website describes the CitroŽn and Polyphony Digital collaboration as a joint effort first talked about at the Geneva Motor Show past March [2008]. Yamamoto convinced Jean-Pierre Plouť to submit his concept to CitroŽn's head office in Paris who agreed to start the production process and manufacture the real car. The concept car's rear was carefully designed to fit what the gamers will actually see in the game since it is the more powerful featured vehicle, declares Yamamoto.

Our Review

Norev's model is a real beauty. The pearlescent white is just dazzling with it's pink and blue color shifts. The fit and finish, the glazing, the light groups and even the packaging smacks of AUTOart. I got the suspicion they used Aa's Chinese vendor for this model.

The doors are the only operating features on this model and when opened, they reveal an interior that's pure Deco ala Flash Gordon... well, this is a car that owes its design to a video game, so just go with it. It's pure fun. The Heads-Up Display is right out of a premillenium fighter jet. The bronze dash and armrest accents invoke Emporer Ming's Imperial Cruiser. The scalloped panel edges are B-2 Stealth.

This is a heckuva design excercise. I would kill to see one of the 6 cars to be produced on the road. If you like concept cars and outrageous automotive design, this model is for you.
